About the Wilbur Smith Award

The Wilbur Awards are presented annually to individuals, organizations, and student leaders. Accordingly, the award-winners epitomize the power of one entity or individual to positively impact our community or region. Furthermore, they serve as models of effective leadership and of working together for excellence, pride, and progress for our community.

The award is named in memory of Wilbur Smith, a noted public servant to Texarkana for many years.

“We are very proud of Will and his recognition by Leadership Texarkana with the Wilbur Smith Award… It is exciting to see him honored in this way.”

– Dr. Doug Brubaker, TISD Superintendent
