Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to operate properly, understand website usage, measure performance, and improve the user experience.

Cookies are small data files stored on your browser or device. Some cookies may be necessary for basic website functionality, while others may support analytics.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Depending on your browser and the technologies used on the Site, disabling cookies may affect certain features or functionality.

Where required by applicable law, we will provide appropriate notice or choices regarding nonessential cookies and similar technologies.

Affiliate Links

Some articles and resources on the Site may contain affiliate links. When affiliate links are used, we aim to provide a clear disclosure within or near the applicable content.

If you click an affiliate link, a third-party retailer, affiliate network, or service provider may use cookies, tracking technologies, or other information to recognize that you were referred by Texarkana Parent Magazine.

If you make a qualifying purchase through an affiliate link, Texarkana Parent Magazine may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.

We do not receive your full payment-card information when you make a purchase through a third-party retailer. Your interaction with a third-party website, including any purchase, is governed by that third party’s terms and privacy practices.

Third-Party Advertising

We do not currently display third-party behavioral advertising on the Site.

If our advertising practices change in the future, we may update this Privacy Policy and provide any additional notices, disclosures, or privacy choices required by applicable law.

Kids’ Corner and Children’s Information

Texarkana Parent Magazine publishes Kids’ Corner and may offer other community features that highlight children’s artwork, answers, photographs, creative submissions, or other contributions.

Kids’ Corner submissions must be made by a parent or legal guardian through an official Texarkana Parent Magazine social-media channel or another submission method specifically provided by us.

A parent or legal guardian may voluntarily provide information that includes:

  • The child’s first name
  • The child’s age
  • Artwork
  • Written responses or quotes
  • Photographs, when requested
  • Other materials voluntarily submitted for possible publication

Texarkana Parent Magazine generally publishes only a child’s first name and age in connection with Kids’ Corner submissions. We do not intentionally publish a child’s last name through Kids’ Corner unless separate, express permission has been provided by the child’s parent or legal guardian.

By submitting a child’s information or materials for Kids’ Corner or another community feature, the person submitting confirms that they are the child’s parent or legal guardian, or that they otherwise have legal authority to provide the submission and grant permission for its use.

Submitted materials may be considered for publication in Texarkana Parent Magazine’s print edition, digital magazine, website, email communications, or official social-media channels.

Parents and legal guardians should not submit sensitive personal information about a child, including home addresses, personal contact information, medical information, school schedules, precise location information, or other information that could create privacy or safety concerns.

Parents or legal guardians may contact us to request the removal of a child’s information or submitted material from channels under our control. We will review and respond to such requests as required by applicable law and as reasonably practicable. Removal from printed materials already distributed or third-party platforms may not always be possible.

When submissions are made through Facebook or another third-party platform, information processed directly by that platform is also subject to the platform’s own privacy policy and practices.

Our Site is intended primarily for parents, caregivers, and other adults and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly invite children under 13 to independently submit personal information directly through the Site.

If we learn that personal information has been collected directly from a child under 13 in a manner that requires parental consent under applicable law and appropriate consent has not been obtained, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information.

Social-Media Giveaways

From time to time, Texarkana Parent Magazine may host giveaways through our official social-media accounts.

Participation generally takes place directly on the applicable social-media platform. Depending on the giveaway, we may view information made available through participation, such as a participant’s display name, username, comment, reaction, or message.

We use this information only as reasonably necessary to administer the giveaway, verify participation when applicable, select a winner, and contact the winner.

Participating in a social-media giveaway does not automatically subscribe you to our email newsletter. We will not add giveaway participants to our email list unless they separately provide permission or voluntarily subscribe.

Individual giveaways may be subject to separate official rules or terms.

Information processed directly by a social-media platform is also subject to that platform’s own privacy policies and practices.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate our website and services, including providers that assist with:

  • Website hosting and maintenance
  • Website analytics
  • Email newsletter management and delivery
  • Security and technical operations

These providers may process information on our behalf to perform services for us.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests
  • Protect our rights, property, or safety
  • Protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others
  • Investigate fraud, security issues, or misuse of the Site
  • Enforce applicable terms or policies

If Texarkana Parent Magazine or substantially all of its assets are transferred, acquired, reorganized, or merged with another entity, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

Sale of Personal Information and Targeted Advertising

We do not sell or rent personal information.

We do not currently use personal information for targeted advertising based on a visitor’s activity across unrelated websites or services, and we do not currently engage in profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning individuals.

If these practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices or privacy choices required by applicable law.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:

  • Provide requested services or communications
  • Maintain business and operational records
  • Honor unsubscribe requests
  • Maintain security
  • Resolve disputes
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Enforce agreements and policies

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, the purpose for which it was collected, and applicable legal requirements.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it in accordance with our practices and applicable law.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to help protect personal information under our control.

However, no website, internet transmission, electronic storage system, or security measure can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.
