Texas High School Student Council Named President of TASC

Texas High School Student Council

Texas High School’s student council has recently won the 2022 National Gold Council of Excellence Award, but the accolades don’t stop there. THS Student Council has the honor of being State President of Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) for 2022-2023.

To some, is seems like “Texas High School” and “student leadership” are synonymous with one another.

Due to their persistent excellence, the THS Student Council will be the 2022-2023 State President School for Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC). Moreover, John Thomas Borowitz will serve as the student representative on the TASC Board of Directors.

Why TASC?

“The students made the decision to run for state office, not the advisers,” said Susan Waldrep, THS Student Council Advisor.

Student members must present why they want to run and share their ideas for a platform.  Texas High’s platform for 2022 was Kick Cancer. They campaigned at the 86th annual conference held in Irving, TX with over 3500 student leaders in attendance.

“We were thrilled about the election,” Waldrep continued.

Student Council Projects

THS Student Council won a Top Ten Project award for their “Color All Cancer Cured” project and a Top Ten Video award for their “Healthy Heroes” pep rally performed at area elementary schools. The Sweepstakes School went on to earn “Outstanding Student Council recognition in all areas of service.
