Prep Time: About 10 minutes
Cook Time: According to crescent roll package directions
Servings: 8 spider dogs
Kid Help: Wrapping dough and adding ketchup eyes
What You’ll Need to Make Spider Dogs
1 package hot dogs
1 package crescent roll dough
Ketchup
How to Make Spider Dogs
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Open the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
- Make the spider legs.
- Take one hot dog.
- Starting at one end, make two cuts about one-third of the way toward the middle. Don’t cut all the way through.
- Turn the hot dog one-quarter turn and make two more cuts the same way.
- Repeat on the other end. The middle should stay connected while each end has four skinny “legs.”
Grown-Up Help: An adult should handle the knife or closely supervise older kids while making the spider legs.
- Wrap the middle of each hot dog with one crescent roll triangle, leaving the legs sticking out.
- Bake according to the crescent roll package directions, or until the dough is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes.
- Use a toothpick dipped in ketchup to add two little eyes to each spider.
Make Spider Dogs for Little Eaters or a Crowd
Making these for little eaters or a larger crowd? Cut the hot dogs and crescent dough triangles in half.
Serve & Enjoy!
Serve your Spider Dogs with:
- Grapes for “eyeballs”
- Mac and cheese for “brains”
- Pretzel sticks and string cheese for “witch’s brooms”
Make It a Family Tradition
