Texarkana College and East Texas A&M University leaders signing transfer agreement

Texarkana, TX- Texarkana College and East Texas A&M University (ETAMU) formalized a new academic partnership Wednesday with the signing of a Transfer Agreement Memorandum of Understanding designed to expand educational pathways for students across the region.

The signing ceremony was held at 1 p.m. in the Dr. James Henry Russell STEM Complex Atrium on the Texarkana College campus and featured remarks from Dr. Jason Smith, president of Texarkana College, and Dr. Mark J. Rudin, president of East Texas A&M University.

A New Transfer Pathway for Regional Students

The agreement establishes a streamlined transfer pathway that allows Texarkana College students to transition more efficiently into bachelor’s degree programs at East Texas A&M University. Leaders from both institutions emphasized the importance of collaboration in providing students with clear, affordable routes to four-year degrees while supporting workforce and regional economic needs.

An overview of the agreement was presented by Dr. Dixon Boyles, vice president of instruction at Texarkana College, who highlighted the MOU’s focus on academic advising, degree completion, and transfer success.
Faculty, staff, and community supporters attended the event in celebration of the strengthened collaboration, which reflects a shared commitment to student success and long-term regional growth.
