After the uncertainty and challenges of 2020, many families are more than ready to live it up and have a fantastic summer this year. Luckily, there are tons of opportunities for kids to have fun in the Texarkana area this summer! Whether your child is interested in sports, tech, creative arts, or just having a good time, there’s something for every kid in Texarkana this summer.

A MiniShow is a week-long process of putting together a ‘public-ready show’ in just 5 days. Kids will learn how to explore different characters, design and construct costumes and set, learn and practice theatre etiquette and stage direction, move their bodies in fun choreography, prepare and memorize lines and learn skills to help present lines to an audience, get out of the box with fun and creative improv games, etc… all while having fun, making new friends, and using teamwork to put it all together. Cost includes a week of theatre learning and fun, a t-shirt (if registered by July 1st,) and 2 comp tickets to see the show. Tickets for purchase will be available the week of camp.

Activities
For those serious actors who have either been involved in an SCT mainstage musical before OR those who can send in an audition and provide a high school theatre reference. For actors and techies ages 12-18. This camp focuses on a “classic” musical and participants work really hard to make the show spectacular. Includes opportunities for crew members to be stage manager, costume master, prop master, assistant director and lighting/sound design. The entire show will be run by the campers, and a full-length show for the public will be the end product.

Summer Swim Lessons at the TISD Aquatic Center

Activities
- 3 & 4-year-old class: Reserved for the youngest group, limited to small class sizes for the most hands-on safety.
- Level 1: Little to no experience. The class focuses on comfort, safety and fun! In the class swimmers will learn how to float and begin the basics of freestyle
- Level 2: Swimmers at this level are comfortable in the water. This is an intermediate skill development class. Swimmers will continue learning how to swim freestyle and backstroke and focus on proper breathing
- Level 3: Swimmers at this level are advanced in skill development and are able to swim freestyle and backstroke for the full length of the pull without assistance. This class will also introduce butterfly and breaststroke.
